Mad Unity

Mad Unity is a passion project that came about from my experience broadcasting a weekly radio show dedicated to Electronic Dance Music (EDM). We decided to end the broadcast in October 2024 and relaunch as a podcast in January 2025. Mad Unity: Our EDM Life is available on Spotify, YouTube and Apple podcasts. However, we wanted to make our content available to audiences outside the major platforms in a more customized format. Thus, the madunity.com website is intended to serve as a test case for building an online community around podcast content delivered in video and audio formats.

Leadership

I am the Creator and Executive Producer of the podcast, as well as the lead of the overall web platform project. As a DJ and hobbyist music producer myself, I am passionate about providing a platform for up and coming producers.

Strategy

The idea behind the platform is to create a destination for content that is not beholden to the walled gardens of the major podcasting and social platforms. It is designed with the ethos of the Open Web in mind.

Innovation

The road map for this project includes the addition of Activity Pub features for messaging on each of the episode pages to encourage in-context conversations with the audience.

Value

There is no question that the major platforms capture most of the value that comes with developing and growing an audience for themselves. The Mad Unity project intends to provide a model for that value to remain in the hands of the content creators by providing an open platform through which to publish content.
